What does a Senior Legal Manager do?
As part of a dedicated client servicing team, the Senior Legal Manager oversees the daily legal management of an international client portfolio. Collaborating closely with financial and support colleagues, each team member maintains the client portfolio to ensure its integrity and the delivery of consistently high-quality services. Your role involves addressing complex inquiries, ensuring client satisfaction, and providing comprehensive corporate services. The Senior Legal Manager also manages ad-hoc activities and special projects, alongside intensive client contact and daily work.
Your main tasks and responsibilities include:
Legal management:
- Keeping a client portfolio of various types of clients in legal good standing in accordance with the law
- Having a coordinating role in setting up entities and in implementing (re)structuring’s and/or dissolutions
- Initiating, holding, and attending board meetings
- Drafting and reviewing legal documentation of a general civil- and corporate law nature (such as board and shareholder’s resolutions, powers of attorneys, loan agreements and contracts etc.)
- Taking part in client-related transactions in compliance with recommendations of the local regulatory body, including spin – offs, mergers, and acquisitions
- Compiling and reviewing (complex) legal documents, where necessary in close cooperation with external (legal) advisors
- Coaching more junior team members in reviewing (complex) legal documents, where necessary in close cooperation with external (legal) advisors
- Administratively handling various legal and financial documents and maintaining the client portfolio’s data management
- Acting as proxy holder for United on execution of client documentation
- Performing filing and reporting and/or monitoring deadlines with local authorities
- Negotiating price agreements and monitoring timely and complete accounts receivable collections
- Keeping up to date with changes in law in certain jurisdictions which may impact service delivery and ensure that international and/or industry- specific legal requirements are met
- Pro-actively making recommendations for improvements to existing processes and procedures General communication/coordination with clients, (tax) advisors, lawyers, banks, notaries and authorities
Risk & compliance:
- Reviewing and analysing complex client structures, understanding and documenting their purpose and rationale
- Applying proper ongoing risk management
- Identifying, analysing and documenting potential (fiscal) integrity risk and subsequent mitigating measures
- Ensuring full compliance with United’s framework of policies and procedures
- Actively monitoring compliance review cycles of the client portfolio
- Assuming responsibility for monitoring clients’ transactions
- Ensuring full compliance with local legislation and regulations
- Signalling any potential legal, regulatory or tax issue in a transaction and liaising with the relevant stakeholders
- Guiding potential clients on the client (re)acceptance procedure and handling ongoing compliance reviews and procedures
Building & Maintaining relationships:
- Building and fostering strong relationships with (inter)national clients
- Business development: actively participating in building and maintaining your own client portfolio and growing and marketing United’s client portfolio
- Supporting with and preparing fee proposals and striving to attract new clients by building a business network
- Maintaining and expanding our network of partners (law firms, notaries, tax consultants, accountants)
- Being Involved in business development activities and organising events
Who are we looking for?

- To be successful in this position you have:
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with Book 2 of the Dutch Civil Code and basic accounting knowledge
- Three years of experience working in the Dutch trust industry, holding a BTO-1 certification
- Two to five years of relevant experience providing legal support in a corporate environment
- Experience in managing and advising (international) clients
- A Master’s degree in law (Dutch Law with emphasis on company law, notary law or fiscal law)
- Proficien
